Dear Preschool Teacher, Is this what you love?

It has been a month since I've blogged. Yes, I have awesome pictures. Yes, I have great material. Yes, I still love writing. But no, not as much as love being in my classroom. I have found writing is not my first love as I suspected. I came to this conclusion after I lost yet another assistant for my class. I've had to work twice as hard to keep our school family running smoothly. I've thought of writing and wished I was writing...but every piece of time and energy not used for my family is used for my class. I wish for more hours in the day. It seems by the time I prepare my Centers, have class, go home, love on my family, it's bedtime and it starts all over again! Confucius says, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Dear Confucius, I did choose a job I love but every part of it feels like work. However, I still look forward to doing it all over again tomorrow.

  1. And we love you Myra! Some day, I hope you will be able to write more but I love how you put your best energy where it is needed right now.

  2. Thanks for taking the time today. Remember you can always write short little pieces about your day. Reflections on the teaching/learning process are my favorite to read.

  3. I'm like you: I love anticipating the kids and playing with the kids. The only way I've been able to keep up with blogging is to be a 5 a.m. riser! Not for everyone, I'm guessing . . .

  4. @Deborah...you always know just what to say...sending you hugs!

@ Justice...Funny I hadn't noticed but I'm actually smiling in the picture, Sasha was telling me how the paint felt on her feet...yes, FUN!

@Teacher Tom, It's funny you say about early rising...I did write that early this morning while everyone was still asleep. I am an early riser but I usually use that time for praying/mediation and a work-out. The morning work-out hasn't been "working" out so well:) Apparently, I went to bed earlier than usual and had a 30 minute window to play around with:) A writer once told me writing was a form a prayer, maybe if I looked at it that way?

  5. @Gail...Thanks for the reminder:) The only reason I didn't just quit all together was I visited this awesome craft blog about a year ago. The writer decided with her family being so chaotic she was unable to keep her blog going. She had 45 comments on that one blog post asking her if she'd just leave the blog up for reference.

I also left a comment saying, "Obviously, your fans love you and love what you do, you should leave your blog up and when time permits come back and share"....soooo, heres me taking my own advice;)

By the way, that writer emailed me and told me thank you for the comment and she'd decided to leave the blog up and re-visit it once there was peace in her storm.

  7. I know exactly how you feel! I haven't blogged in almost a month and in that time we've found out our school is having an inspection, my washing machine's pipes froze over, my parents had to stay over because of a house fire and Christmas came (and went). Phew! When I checked my stats today I felt I owed it to my readers (and myself) to post something new. Make some catch up time. Blogging is relaxing and you're so good at it :)
